Better colors or motion ? I wont need the gaming part. Nvidia shield is not available yet in my country but it sounds very tempting. Does anyone how to change the colors settings on Rasplex to match my TV color profile ? This option is mentioned at the beginning of Rasplex installation but I jumped over and now i cant find it within the Rasplex app. I I will also compare the color and motion performance of Raspberry to Plex via better spec PC. But i will have to get more time with it to make a final a verdict. Update : I just bought and installed Raspberry with Rasplex today, Im surprised, so far the 3 Blu-ray rips and a Remux I tried seem to play fine, IR Remote control works ( trying to make the remote start up Raspberry too). The Raspberry is best value for me if it can do the job ? Or should go Chromebox or even Intel NUC for the better hardware ? Con : Must install HDD etc, Most expensive. Must install OpenLEC or can i just install Plex home theater within the Chrome OS ? Con: Raspberry 3 is cheaper. Con: may not able to play high bitrate HD files? Must buy a bunch of stuff power cable, sd card etc.Ĭhromebox: Ready OS, no hardware installation. Direct play from Local server, No transcode needed. Requirement: It must play any high vitrate Bluray or a 1080p H.265 wth Plex a Client. There is so many options Raspberry 3, Chromebox, Roku, Chromcast, Intel Nuc. But, it's probably pretty underpowered for that.I am looking for a simple and powerful box to play all my media from a separate Plex server PC. The Zotac has 8GB of RAM, so conceivably could have Windows installed on it.So, I guess an Nvideo Shield is the way to go. It seems tough to do the latter and meet criteria #1 and #5. I get the impression my best choice for this with Emby is an Nvidia Shield or a Windows HTPC running Emby Theater for Windows. It doesn't do 4K or HDR, but otherwise is good against all these criteria except #6 (doesn't have a live TV grid guide yet), which is why I'm looking at Emby. I run Plex Media Player on a Zotac CI520 (Core i3-4020Y w/HD Graphics 4200) and a Asus Chromebox-M004U with Flirc's. Rock solid turnkey with no updates popping up over the Emby UI, no other superfluous UI that vies for user attention.Outputs latest audio (DD, DTS, DTS-MA, Dolby TrueHD) / video (1080p, 4K, HDR) features.Optimally this would meet these criteria: Of course the Android / IOS mobile clients and the web client are important, but the most critical thing for me is a set-top-box client running a TV optimized 10-foot UI like Emby Theater. I've run Plex forever and am looking at switching to Emby because of better Live TV support. I've read through the forums and not seen this exact question asked recently (since I gather Emby has evolved quite a bit in 2018) so I apologize if this is a duplicate. First I apologize for a post that is similar to many others.
